Introduction

What Companion Care Can Look Like at Home

Not every family needs all-day care.

Sometimes a loved one is mostly independent but could use company during the day. Sometimes household tasks are becoming harder. Sometimes the family lives across town—or across the country—and wants someone dependable checking in.

Companion care can fill those gaps without turning everyday life into a clinical experience.

At Caring Hands Care, you work directly with one caregiver instead of meeting a new person every visit. Learn about Dominique and her 10 years of caregiving experience.

Companionship

Conversation, Activities and Familiar Routines

Companion care can include conversation, shared activities, help keeping a routine or simply having someone familiar around during the day.

That might mean:

  • Conversation and social interaction
  • Reading together
  • Games, puzzles or other activities
  • Going for a walk when appropriate
  • Helping maintain familiar routines
  • Providing company while a family member is away
  • Offering calm support on confusing or stressful days

The exact visit depends on the person, their interests and what makes the day feel comfortable.

Errands

Errands and Grocery Shopping

If groceries or everyday errands are becoming difficult to manage, I can complete them for you.

This may include:

  • Grocery shopping
  • Picking up household essentials
  • Running routine local errands
  • Shopping from a provided list
  • Returning with purchases to the home

Important: Errands are completed independently. Caring Hands Care does not transport clients in a vehicle.

Light housekeeping

Light Housekeeping and Laundry

Light housekeeping can be included during scheduled care when it helps make the home easier to manage.

This may include:

  • Laundry
  • Folding clothes
  • Light tidying
  • Basic organizing
  • Washing dishes
  • Keeping frequently used areas orderly
  • Simple household tasks related to the person's everyday routine

Caring Hands Care does not provide deep-cleaning or professional housekeeping services.

Meals

Meal Preparation

Meal preparation can be part of a companion-care visit.

That may include preparing simple meals, helping organize food for later and cleaning up the immediate kitchen area afterward.

If your loved one has specific dietary instructions, include those details in the Request Care form so they can be reviewed before care begins.

Medication reminders

Medication Reminders Only

Medication reminders are available. Medication administration is not.

A reminder means letting someone know it is time to take medication according to the instructions already provided to them.

Caring Hands Care does not administer, prescribe or make medical decisions about medications.

Adults with disabilities

Non-Medical Support for Adults With Disabilities

Caring Hands Care may also be a fit for adults with disabilities who need non-medical companionship, household support, errands, meal preparation or help maintaining everyday routines.

The Request Care form gives you space to explain what kind of support would actually be useful.

Dementia experience

Experience With Dementia and Behavioral Changes

My caregiving experience includes supporting people living with dementia and behavioral changes.

That includes experience helping de-escalate stressful situations and using routine, conversation and sensory engagement to create a calmer environment.

Caring Hands Care does not provide medical dementia treatment.

What I can provide is patient, non-medical support from the same familiar caregiver at each scheduled visit.

2-hour minimum
